Rural & Family Housing

This program provides modest rental accommodation to low-income families in small rural communities.  The program offered by our Foundation is limited to the following units in the designated communities.

The Foundation's operating deficit for this program is paid by the Province of Alberta. 

Rent Subsidy

The program offers the following:

  • Placement of eligible applicants in the foundation's housing unit;
  • The tenant pays a monthly rent based on 30% of their household income (minimum rent $120).

How to Apply

Applications are assessed based on need, those greatest in need receive available subsidies first.

Application Form

Families may be eligible for the Rural and Family Housing Program if they meet all of the following eligibility requirements:

  • a family is defined as at least one parent with at least one child;
  • senior citizen couples and families with disabled persons also may be eligible;
  • applicants must be Canadian Citizens or have Landed Immigrant Status;
  • the family's total annual income must fall within established maximum income limits (CNITS);
  • the family must have a good credit rating and be able to make rental payments;
  • the family must need improved housing, priority for placement in a vacant unit is given to those families who demonstrate the greatest need for improved housing.
